NOTE: Time marches on and K2HealthTech continues to provide service to clients with unsupported legacy computer applications. This W2 reporting service has been applied successfully for three years and unless the W2 form is changed significantly for 2010 reporting purposes we will be able to apply the same technology again at the end of this tax year. Printing 2007 W-2 Forms Using the Old 2006 Program

Are you a Keane Care DOS Payroll client who needs to print 2007 W-2 Forms and you find that the 2007 W-2 Forms have been altered slightly from the 2006 W-2 Forms?  When KeaneCare announced the end of support for the DOS programs almost three years ago we all knew that this could happen or that there could be other changes to the tax code requiring changes to the payroll program. Fortunately the form change can be easily accommodated by using a special service developed by K2HealthTech.

Facilities using the VistaKeane product, formerly known as VistaCARE prior to Keane's acquisition of CARE Computer Systems in 2000, can now use a special service developed by K2HealthTech to print their 2007 W-2 Forms without upgrading their Keane Care DOS Payroll program to the Windows version.  This can save the facility thousands of dollars in upgrade fees as well as avoiding training costs and downtime.

How do K2HealthTech Clients Do This?

Instead of directly printing your W-2 Forms on the forms themselves you use simple operating system commands to write your 2006 W2 print data into a file which you encrypt and send to K2HealthTech.  K2HealthTech then converts this file to the 2007 W-2 format, encrypts it and sends it back.  Then you use simple operating system commands to align your 2007 W-2 forms and print the actual forms themselves.  This can all be done in one day for a small fee saving you hours of manually typing your 2007 W-2 Forms and risking an error,  Only the position of four key fields was altered from the 2006 format for the 2007 format and K2HealthTech simply moves them so they appear in the correct location on the 2007 W-2 Forms.  Nothing else was changed.  It is really as simple as that.
